Ideal Working Conditions & Rhythm
Core Goal: Understand the rhythm of my workday so you can identify the best times for deep collaboration or urgent coordination.
The Clock
- What are your “Hard Start” and “Hard Stop” times?
- I am an Integrator. I don’t follow a rigid 9-to-5; instead, I take advantage of inspiration and the ability to focus whenever it strikes. This means you might see me active at non-traditional hours.
- Are you an Integrator (work flows into life) or a Segmentor (strict boundaries)?
- I am a through-and-through Integrator. My work and personal life flow together, giving me the flexibility to be present for my family and the mission simultaneously.
- What time of day is your “Peak Intelligence”?
- My best thinking happens early in the day and then again after dinner. I try to cluster meetings and administrative tasks in the second half of the business day to protect these high-leverage windows.
Deep Work & Flow
- What are your “No Meeting” zones?
- I don’t have formal “No Meeting” zones, but I prefer to keep my mornings open for deep work whenever possible.
- How do you signal that you are in a “Flow State”?
- I don’t use specific flow indicators. I strive to be available to my team and stakeholders whenever they need me.
- What is the “one thing” that instantly breaks your concentration?
- Non-actionable Slack messages (e.g., “Hello,” “Can I ask you a question?” followed by silence). These create unnecessary context-switching noise. If you have a question, please include the full context or the question itself in the first message so I can assess the signal and respond effectively.
Environment
- Do you thrive in a “buzzing” environment or total silence?
- I don’t mind a bit of background noise, but I will switch to noise-cancelling headphones if the environment becomes too distracting for deep focus.
- What tools or setups are essential for your success?
- The Command Center: I prefer a dual-monitor setup for situational awareness (I use Viture glasses to simulate this when I’m on the move).
- Tactile Feedback: I use high-quality keyboards because I believe the work should feel good while you’re doing it.
- Efficiency: I use Vim mode for all text input to maintain speed and AI agents to automate “busy work,” allowing me to stay focused on the highest-leverage tasks at hand.
